Don’t take my Boo-Oop-A-Doop Away (Sexy Betty)

Betty Boop has been a sex symbol since the early 1930s. She has been dubbed the most famous animated sex symbol of all time. She was modeled after Helen Kane and Clara Bow. (Helen was a singer and Clara was an actress.)

She is reminiscent of the flappers, which were popular during the depression era. She quickly became popular with adult audiences. This could have been due in part to the fact that the animators gave viewers a naughty peek of Betty, every now and then.

Up until 1934, when she was ‘tamed down’ a bit she often had trouble keeping her dress up or her skirt down, is you can see in the following video.
