Let’s do a little calculation here. If we power 17W fluorescent bulb every day and night for one year the bulb will use 148kW of energy. For example, California energy cost is $0.1384 / 1kWh that makes around $20.61 yearly bill for 148kWh usage. Assuming we power each bulb 4 hours per day $40.000 USD would power roughly around 11644 bulbs for one year in the State of California assuming that we use 4 hours of energy in a 24 hour period per bulb.
