World’s Smallest House

July 30, 2008 – 6:14 pm

Dee Williams lives in the world’s smallest house, a house that she built with her own two hands. She is not saddled down with a mortgage or skyrocketing utility bills. When she gets tired of the view, from outside her window, she can move and take her house with her.

It cost Dee $10,000 to build her 83 square foot house, which in comparison is smaller than the average parking space. Many of the construction materials she used came from the salvage yard. Because of the use of solar panels, Dee’s highest winter heating bill is roughly $6.

It’s approximately two steps from the bathroom to the kitchen and two steps up to get to her bedroom. It’s probably not the best place to entertain guests, but Dee and her dog seem to do just fine on their own.
