Kaleidoscope Fun

July 20, 2008 – 2:11 pm

Did you have a kaleidoscope, when you were a kid? If so, you probably remember how interesting it was.

As most people know, a kaleidoscope is a tube of reflecting mirrors that contains colored beads, pebbles or other small objects of interest. The mirrors are all set at different angles, which cause light to be reflected very easily.

Looking through a kaleidoscope, while rotating the mirrors in the tube, you will see colorful patterns against a black background. These patterns constantly change as you twist the kaleidoscope.

Now you can re-create some of the fun that you had, with your kaleidoscope, without leaving your computer… with the Dtoy. Just a word of warning, visiting the site can become quite addicting. Draw at your own risk!

There are even instructions on the site explaining how to make your own kaleidoscope. It’s easier than you think. Believe it or not, watching the colorful shapes float around can be quite relaxing.
